I'm a complainer. At times, I'll even indulge in complaining about complainers and complaining itself. which, I guess, theoretically makes me a triple complainer.
Like many complainers, I'm sure, I realize the complete waste of time and energy this pathetic little habit is.
But that doesn't stop me, does it? Maybe it slows me down a bit.
A bit.
Several Sunday's ago, I was reading about the returning veterans from Iraq who were severely injured and/ or burned and the incredibly difficult challenges they face. It was one of those moments where I realized (and embraced) how lucky I am (and that most of us are).
I shared the story with my wife and vowed to never complain again.
A little time.
A few distractions.
A couple things getting in the way of easy and I found myself back on the complaints.
I just need to start by complaining a little less, I thought.
"Put a smile in the path of a complaint. once daily," I suggest in 212. "Choke off 365 seeds of negativity a year."
What if we could do it twice daily? That'd be a nice habit.
"Habit is a cable; we weave a thread of it every day, and at last we cannot break it."
Horace Mann
father of the American public education
(1796 - 1659)
The thing is. when we're weaving that cable, we need to be careful those threads are positive threads rather than negative threads (so we don't find ourselves with a cable of the wrong kind).
Complain less.
More realistic than Never Complain, I think (not that we wouldn't all love that).
A world of more complainless people (people with no
complaints). Imagine.
